Located in the heart of Richmond’s historical Fan District, Ms. Babs’ Nursery School is a unique daycare for infants 3-months-old to pre-schoolers. We offer full-day care in a home-like environment with an exceptional attentive and caring staff. The school has 5 classrooms dedicated to each age group, 3 playgrounds, fully equipped kitchen, dedicated staff lounge with facilities.

At a glance, The Joey’s room exemplifies a space for growing young minds with defined developmental spaces for each child, bright sun filled open classroom. Moving up into the Caterpillar’s room, they shift into learning life’s basic skills such as learning to sit properly at the table, circle time activities and outside playtime. Next up, the Bumblebee’s have a large playroom perfect for pretending, puzzles, blocks and other games, adjacent to this room we have our activity room with large area rugs for circle time, yoga, nature club and music! The last room in the back has a great view of our playground and holds our dining room/arts and crafts room. It’s perfect for group lunch and some sunlight. This classroom also has mini potties for the children to become potty trained Climbing the stairs, you head into the June Bug’s room where the kids learn how to identify letters, explore new music and dance, make believe in the dress up area, paint a new painting on the rear rooftop playground that is connected to the classroom. When you head downstairs, the Cricket’s room is smaller intentionally and helps the children have more one-on-one time with the teacher. Just steps away from our playground this classroom pairs well with our learn through play techniques. There are large lesson boards, interactive toys and an imagination station!

 

At Ms. Babs’, the days are filled with love, and we celebrate and cultivate our differences, and discover “our special uniqueness” by participating in activities that vary from planting tomatoes to counting potatoes. While teaching to care for our Earth, our friends and ourselves our staff strives to instill important qualities such as trust, compassion and understanding with our children. Our goal is to have each child enter kindergarten well-rounded and happy. After all, learning is more than just ABC’s—it’s about complete personal growth and development.
